Post Title: Educational Psychologist 

Reporting To: Head of Children's Services

Salary Grade Range:

In drawing up this job description the Headteacher acknowledges their responsibility in those ways defined for Headteachers in their Conditions of Employment, to enable the holder of this post to carry out the assigned duties and responsibilities. The Headteacher will consult you as appropriate during any review of these duties.
  3. The range is £44,908 - £49,569
  4. This role requires and Educational Psychology qualification (e.g. Doctorate or Masters), which permits Graduate Registration with the British Psychological Society
Part 1:
1.1.  Exercise of general professional duties

To provide Educational Psychology services to the Trust and work as part of the Trust’s SEND team in accordance with school policies to provide quality support for children with SEND, including assessment, teacher support, parent meetings, staff training and contribution to SEND team strategy within the MAT.

1.2.  Exercise of particular duties

Support Requirements 

  • To provide 1:1 assessment of children referred to you by the Trust’s SENDCos.
  • To consult with parents and teachers regarding a child’s needs.
  • To provide written reports with recommendations for support and/or further referral.
  • To attend EHCP Annual Review meetings where appropriate
  • To deliver staff training

Working with Pupils Requirements 

  • To provide 1 to 1:1 observation in classrooms and/or individual assessment when referred
  • To enhance the universal, targeted and specialist provision of SEN support in line with a Graduated Response approach through contribution in line with the SEND Team’s strategy and priorities
  • To support teachers with the practical implementation of EP recommendations and SEN interventions/support for individual pupils

Training & Information Requirements 

  • To support staff with training and information on SEN and SEN support
  • To create individual reports for children following 1:1 assessment
  • To contribute to the Trust’s external training projects, where appropriate, eg EdTech

Multi Agency Working Requirements

  • To work with other professionals in supporting children with SEND, if appropriate
  • To attend meetings, including those with other professionals, as required, including TAF, EHCP, ARs
  • To recommend referrals for pupils to other agencies if appropriate

Information Security / Record Keeping Requirements

  • To ensure all confidential information relating to pupils, families and staff is stored in a locked cabinet, within a locked room or the SEN confidential TEAMs channel and Edukey
  • To ensure that pupil / family / staff confidentiality is maintained and information is only shared on a ‘need to know’ basis.

Safeguarding Requirements

  • To ensure that children are safeguarded at all times
  • To share information with relevant Designated Safeguarding officers immediately if concerned

General Requirements

  • To work across all Academy Trust Schools as required
  • To contribute to the wider work of the school / Trust in raising standards
  • To keep up to date with current practice through CPD to meet HCPC standards

Professional Supervision

Due to the nature of the role, the post holder will ensure they have their own professional or clinical supervision, to be organised by the post holder.
