Early Years Class Teacher

The Cornerstone Academy Trust is responsible for Broadclyst and Westclyst Community Primary Schools and will be opening another new school in the Monkerton area of Exeter. It utilises its Academy freedoms to deliver an enriched and exciting project-based, problem-solving curriculum. 

Broadclyst has been rated outstanding by Ofsted, and in addition, it is a Microsoft Showcase School. The Trust also runs a Teaching School and is an approved Academy Sponsor. 

Now is an exciting time to join this growing academy trust, which is internationally recognised for its use of ICT as a tool for both teaching and learning.

We are recruiting an Early Years Class Teacher for September 2018, to be based in initially in our Nursery class. The post is fixed term in the first instance, it will end in July 2019.  

We are looking for an inspiring and professionally thoughtful teacher who must be able to use a range of teaching styles and appropriate strategies to meet the needs of all children. To be the successful candidate you will need to have good experience of working in the Early Years, have an excellent knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and be both creative and passionate about learning. You must have high expectations for children’s outcomes in relation to the Early Learning Goals and be confident to lead a team of Early Years Practitioners to deliver those outcomes for over 100 children in what is a large school-based Nursery setting.  

You will be part of a strong EYFS team with 4 Reception classes that work together to create a high-quality provision from 2 – 5 years of age. Our schools offer an exciting, extended and enriched curriculum and expect teachers to fully engage in the provision of this, through the use of the outdoors and in the extended day with the wide range of after-school activities that we offer. You will also be expected to use ICT in a fully integrated way as a tool to support your planning, teaching, tracking of the curriculum and in the activities within the classroom to support the children’s development.

Broadclyst & Westclyst Community Primary Schools

Teaching Assistants

The Cornerstone Academy Trust is responsible for Broadclyst Community Primary School and the recently opened Westclyst Community Primary School. This is an exciting time to join a growing team within the academy trust.

Due to the expansion of the Trust, we are seeking to recruit dedicated and professional Teaching Assistants across the MAT. Based in either Key Stage, you will work alongside the class teacher to support children in all areas of the curriculum. You will also assist in the preparation of the learning environment, liaising with parents, maintaining pupil records and carrying out a range of administrative tasks. Relevant experience of working with children and qualifications are desirable (e.g. NVQ level 2 or equivalent or higher).

Required from September 2018, the posts will be for a fixed term until the end of July 2019.

The working hours are typically 30 per week, starting at 9.00am, finishing 3.30pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. Posts within our Early Years team may have slightly different working hours.

The positions are term time only + 2 weeks (40 weeks per annum).

The salary will be between £13,762 (adjusted for national living wage if over 25 years old) and £16,264 pro rata. This allows for progression within the role in line with our appraisal and professional development processes. The actual salary will be lower to reflect the hours per week and the weeks per year.

PR and Marketing Administrator

37.5 hrs per week, 5 days a week, 40 weeks per annum

The Cornerstone Academy Trust is seeking to recruit a dynamic, engaging and successful PR and Marketing professional. The trust is responsible for both Broadclyst and Westclyst Community Primary Schools and soon to be Monkerton Primary School along with its Teaching School. This is an exciting time to join a growing team within the  growing academy trust.

The post holder will support the Trust in its communication and PR with parents and other stakeholders, as well as offering support to the work of the Teaching School in the promoting, planning and running of events, courses and conferences. You will liaise with finance staff regarding the billing and collection of attendance fees.

You will have responsibility for content across our numerous websites and monitoring and managing our social media channels as well as assisting in event planning and management, and the design of promotional material. You will need to be or become proficient in filming events and blogs, and the editing of such material.

You will be extremely personable with excellent communication skills. Your creative flare will be seen through your design abilities and in the effective use of the written word. You will ideally need to be proficient in the use of the popular social media channels, most Microsoft applications including OneNote, although training can be given. We use a number of other applications such as InDesign, Photoshop, and some Adobe products which you will need to demonstrate experience in, or an aptitude to quickly learn your way around them.

Initially the post is to work during school term times plus a further 2 weeks, totalling 40 weeks a year. The working week is 37.5 hours and the post is permanent. 

The salary will start at £16,681 (this will be pro-rated down to reflect term time only working). There is an option of joining the local government pension scheme, benefitting from a cycle to work scheme and a health benefits package, and a performance related bonus system.

If you would like to help the children with their lunches as part of our wider catering team, we would love to hear from you.

The hours are from 11.30am to 1.45pm, week days in school term time. This is 11.25 hours per week.

This is a permanent position, subject to a probationary period, and we require the right person as soon as possible. The hourly rate starts at £7.38, rising to £7.83 if you are over 25 years old.

Casual School Minibus Driver 

Required as soon as possible is a ‘School Minibus Driver’ to be employed on a casual basis. The role will include transporting pupils and staff on educational visits or sporting fixtures and other similar activities. You will be required to drive one of the school’s four 17-seater minibuses or our 7-seater car.

You should possess a clean driving licence, and be willing to undertake any necessary training, dependant on the types of vehicle your licence permits you to drive. Any training costs will be funded by the school.

We operate bus runs to and from the Pinhoe and Bradninch areas early in the morning (commencing about 7:45am) and at the end of the school day. Availability at these times would be desirable but not essential. We also use our bus drivers for school trips and sporting activities during the school day.

The post is a zero hours contract where hours of work will be agreed on a mutually acceptable basis as and when the need for work arises. The hourly rate for this position is £7.83 plus an element of holiday pay.
