The Cornerstone Academy Trust is responsible for Broadclyst, Westclyst and Yeo Valley Primary Schools and will be opening another new school in the Monkerton area of Exeter. It utilises its Academy freedoms to deliver an enriched and exciting project-based, problem-solving curriculum.

Now is an exciting time to become part of the Broadclyst team, as well as the wider Cornerstone staff.

We are recruiting a permanent Early Years Professional (with Early Years Teaching Status) for September 2019, to be based in our outstanding 40 place Broadclyst School Nursery class. The EYP will manage the day to day organisation of the class and line manage the practitioners. Your wider peer network will be the Reception teachers, the EY Professionals at our other schools and the EYFS phase leader for the Trust who oversees and line manages the team.

We are looking for an inspiring and professionally thoughtful candidate who must be able to use a range of teaching styles and appropriate strategies to meet the needs of all children. To be the successful candidate you will need to have good experience of working in the Early Years, have an excellent knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and be both creative and passionate about learning. You must have high expectations for children’s outcomes in relation to the Early Learning Goals and be confident to lead a team of Early Years Practitioners to deliver those outcomes for over 100 children in what is a large school-based Nursery setting. 

You will be part of a strong trust-wide EYFS team that work together to create a high-quality provision from 2 – 5 years of age. Our schools offer an exciting, extended and enriched curriculum and expect all practitioners to fully engage in the provision of this, through the use of the outdoors and in the extended day with the wide range of after-school activities that we offer. You will also be expected to use ICT in a fully integrated way as a tool to support your planning, teaching, tracking of the curriculum and in the activities within the classroom to support the children’s development.

Successful candidates will be provided with state-of-the-art IT equipment to help them fulfil their duties and will work in a modern and well-equipped successful nursery. As an employer we offer our employees access to the local government pension scheme, a health scheme, a cycle to work scheme, as well as subsidised meals.

Visits to the school are welcome by prior arrangement. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Hours of work are 8.30am to 5.30pm on a Monday, with a 3.30pm finish Tuesday to Friday. In addition, a further 2 hours will be worked according to need during the week. You will work 40 weeks per year being term time plus 2 weeks. However, we are looking at the potential to extend our offer into school holiday periods, so please comment within your application regarding your availability to work all year round.

The salary for this position starts at £22,605 pro rata. Note that the actual salary will be reduced to reflect the part year working pattern.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the right person to work with a highly dedicated team of Trustees and the academy leadership team. As a multi-academy trust, we are responsible for Broadclyst, Westclyst and Yeo Valley Primary Schools. The location of this position is Broadclyst.

The successful candidate will have the proven ability to be concise and accurate in minute taking. 

Although the majority of work will be within the term time, some work within school holidays may be required. Meetings take place typically from 5pm to 7pm every half term for each of the two schools. Occasionally you will be asked to Clerk meeting that begin earlier or later than these times. Therefore, your availability must offer a certain level of flexibility.

Cornerstone Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and expects all of its staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A DBS check will be undertaken and references taken up.

The permanent role is expected to require at least 48 hours per annum at an hourly rate of £10.00.

Sous Chef

We are looking to recruit an experienced and qualified Sous Chef to support our Chef here at Cornerstone Academy Trust. Our well-renowned dining service provides meals for Broadclyst, Westclyst and Clyst St Mary Primary Schools’ pupils.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a growing multi-academy trust as we move towards the opening of new school buildings in Westclyst, and a brand new school in Monkerton in September 2020. The catering team are responsible for the provision of high quality meals for up to 500 pupils and staff daily. We also offer a service to parents through the Academy Café which provides families the chance to enjoy a drink, snack or meal after school.

Initially based at Broadclyst Primary School the post may in time support the kitchens at Westclyst or Monkerton.

The successful candidate will need to be flexible, reliable and creative. We would like to employ someone who enjoys good food and will embrace the school’s aim to deliver a ‘family dining’ experience, with nice home cooked, seasonal food served to the table. Ideally, we wish to employ someone who can also demonstrate skills in baking cakes and treats.

This is a permanent position with a 9 month probationary period. We are wishing the successful candidate to start as soon as possible. The post is Monday to Friday, for 45 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks). The day begins at 8am and finishes at 5.30pm. There is a 30-minute break during the day.

The salary for the post commences at £18,717 pro rata. Once the increased hours per week and the reduced weeks per year are calculated, the actual salary is £18,827.

School Minibus Drivers 

Required as soon as possible is a School Minibus Driver to be employed on a part time/casual basis. The role will include transporting pupils and staff on educational visits or sporting fixtures and other similar activities. You will be required to drive one of the school's four 17-seater minibuses or our 7-seater car.

You should possess a clean driving licence, and be willing to undertake any necessary training, dependant on the types of vehicle your licence permits you to drive. Any training costs will be funded by the school.

We operate bus runs to and from the Pinhoe, Westclyst and Bradninch areas early in the morning (commencing about 7:30am) and at the end of the school day. Availability at these times would be desirable but not essential. We also use our bus drivers for school trips and sporting activities during the school day.

The post is a zero hours contract where hours of work will be agreed on a mutually acceptable basis as and when the need for work arises, although we have distinct hours of work available every morning (say 7:30 to 9:15) and every afternoon (say 3:15 to 4:30).  The hourly rate for this position is £8.21 plus an element of holiday pay.
