SEND Teaching Assistant

Broadclyst Community Primary School

The Cornerstone Academy Trust is responsible for Broadclyst, Westclyst and Yeo Valley Primary Schools. With a further school opening in Monkerton, this is an exciting time to join a growing team within the academy trust.

Due to the expansion of the Trust, we are seeking to recruit a dedicated and professional Teaching Assistant to work as part of the Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) team to support those children with specific needs. Most likely to be initially based within KS2 at Broadclyst but with the flexibility to work across key stages and schools if needed. You will work for the Head of Children's Services and alongside the class teachers to support children in all areas of the curriculum and will also assist in the preparation of the learning environment, liaising with parents, maintaining pupil records and carrying out a range of administrative tasks to support the teacher. Relevant experience of working with children and qualifications are desirable (e.g. NVQ level 2 or equivalent or higher).

This position will have the responsibility for providing support to children that require intimate care, monitoring of personal hygiene and with the administration of medicines or injections. You may also be working with children who require both emotional and academic support to ensure the very best outcomes for children with additional needs.

Required to start as soon as possible in January 2020, the postholder will be offered relevant training before working with any specific children. The post is a permanent position.

The working hours are typically 32.5 per week, starting at 8.30am, finishing at 3.30pm, with a 30-minute lunch break.

Visits to the school are welcome by prior arrangement.

Early Years Practitioners

Broadclyst Nursery and the brand-new Westclyst Nursery

The Cornerstone Academy Trust is responsible for Broadclyst, Westclyst and Yeo Valley Primary Schools. With the existing Broadclyst Nursery going from strength to strength, and the brand-new Nursery at Westclyst Primary School, this is an exciting time to join the Trust.

We are recruiting an extended team to help deliver outstanding early years provision at both locations. Currently a 40-place setting, the Westclyst Nursery will soon grow to accommodate 60 children per session. We offer wrap around provision from 8am until 6pm at both locations. We have firm plans to offer an all year-round service, not just term time only. Both settings offer education from 2 years old.

Therefore, we are seeking to recruit dedicated and professional Early Years Practitioners to work alongside our EYFS Teachers and Deputy Leaders to support children in all areas of the Early Years curriculum. You will also assist in the preparation of the learning environment, liaising with parents, maintaining pupil records and carrying out a range of administrative tasks. Relevant experience of working with early years children and relevant qualifications are required (e.g. NVQ level 3 or equivalent or higher).

The positions are permanent and are available immediately. Core working hours are 32.5 per week, starting at 8.30am, finishing at 3.30pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. However, there are opportunities to work an extended day in the before school session and/or after school session from 8am until 9am and 3pm until 6pm. The core role is term time only plus an additional two weeks including the five non-pupil days, but we are keen to know if you would also be interested in any all-year round work should we be able to expand the Nursery provision to operate out of term time during the school holidays. We would like to employ flexible people who could easily work at both Nurseries, but this is not mandatory.

Therefore, within your personal statement your application must state:

Have you your own means of transport to travel between sites if need be?

Would you be able and willing to cover from 8am in the morning?

Would you be able and willing to cover until 6pm in the evenings?

Would you be interested in all year-round work?

The full-time equivalent salary will be between £14,856 and £19,979. The actual salary will be adjusted to reflect the hours per week and the weeks per year. The pay scale allows for progression within the role in line with our appraisal and professional development processes. Starting salary will depend of experience. There is an option of joining the local government pension scheme, benefitting from a cycle to work scheme and a health benefits package.

Visits to either or both Nurseries are welcome by prior arrangement.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for these posts. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Trustee Vacancy - Finance Specialism

The Cornerstone Academy Trust in East Devon is a forward-looking, agile multi academy trust where like-minded schools can collaborate and develop in a local, supportive learning environment with distinctive, extended curriculum opportunities. Broadclyst Community Primary School (Ofsted Outstanding), which became one of the first Academies in the UK in 2010, was the first school in the Trust, and the Trust then opened Westclyst Community Primary School in September 2016. Westclyst, whilst temporarily based on the BCPS site, achieved an Ofsted Outstanding grading on its initial inspection in 2019 and the school has recently moved to its new permanent position in the heart of Westclyst, occupying a state-of-the-art building. The Trust expanded further in January 2019 when Yeo Valley Primary School in Barnstaple joined the MAT as part of a sponsorship agreement and will be opening another Primary School in Monkerton just outside of Exeter in 2020. The Trust is also a Teaching School, as well as being a Science Learning Partnership and an English Hub, providing conferences and learning opportunities for its own staff as well as other schools in the local area and beyond.
